Message from the Principal

What a great start we have had with our new Tutorial period! During the first two weeks of our “walk-to-support” Tutorial, we have averaged more than 300 students participating each day. That means more than one quarter of our student body is taking advantage of this dedicated time to connect with teachers, get extra help, make up work, collaborate with classmates, and stay on top of their learning. It has been exciting to see our students embrace this opportunity and take ownership of their academic success.

Next week is Homecoming Week at BHS, and our ASB leaders have put together a full week of activities to celebrate Spartan spirit! Students can look forward to dress-up days, lunch games, and plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout the week. The celebration culminates on Friday, October 9, with our Homecoming Pep Assembly, followed by an after-school carnival, our Homecoming football game against Kingston, and finally our “Block Party” Homecoming Dance in the Commons from 9:00–11:00 PM. We are looking forward to a fantastic week of community, connection, and Blue & Gold spirit!

Homecoming Schedule (Next week): Spirit week all week. On Friday, October 9 after school there will be a Carnival, the football game and then a dance.

BHS PTSO Needs Your Support

Spartan Spirit Fundraiser
Our annual class competition is underway: Seniors lead with $1,300, followed by juniors ($969), freshman ($450), and sophomores ($200), for a total of $2,919. Last year’s class prize was limited-edition stickers featuring the winning class year.

Donate directly at Givebutter.org/SpartanSpirit and shop new Spartan gear with proceeds going to the fundraiser. We greatly appreciate the 22 families who have already supported PTSO.

Homecoming Dance Chaperones Needed
A big thank you to everyone who purchased Homecoming decorations from the Amazon Wish List. We now have everything we need—except enough dance chaperones for Friday, October 9, 8:00–11:00 PM. Check the sign-up for details, and remember that chaperoning is even more fun with a friend.

Seniors Only: Grad Night Out 2027
Planning is already underway for this year’s Grad Night Out. BHS, EHHS, and Running Start seniors will celebrate together one last time at an all-night, all-inclusive, alcohol- and drug-free adventure immediately following graduation on June 12.

Tickets are $250, and purchasing by November 15 includes a FREE BHS Senior Yard Sign ($40 value). Learn more and register for Grad Night Out 2027 today.

Look for NHS Invitation by Friday, Oct 2

National Honor Society is a nationally accredited student organization that recognizes high-achieving students based on four key principles: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Qualifying Sophomores and Juniors with a 3.5 GPA or higher should expect email invites to their Frog Rock Gmail account by Friday afternoon, October 2nd. All new members must fill out the Forms (found in and submitted to the BHS Career Center Room 205) and pay their one-time membership dues by November 13, 2026.

In addition, all members, new and returning, must attend the NHS Orientation Meeting on October 14th, 2026, held in the BHS Theater during both lunches. Please eat beforehand as food is not permitted in the theater. If you are unable to attend the meeting please email Chapter Advisor Mrs. Swanson or Chapter President Gwen Weighall to be excused. We're looking forward to an eventful year, Spartans!
