About Me

A friend once called me a "Renaissance woman," and it was a title that stuck. I've been drawn to education my entire life. Although I primarily teach math, I've been caught teaching various classes from speech to stage fighting to music.

Prior to settling into mathematics education, I was a corporate employee for 11+ years, focused on IT and project and people management, but mostly creating, presenting, and implementing procedures and materials. Then, I became a stay-at-home parent and decided to pursue my teacher certification. In 2008 while attending graduate school, I worked for BISD as a substitute paraprofessional and a volunteer. Once certified I served as a substitute teacher for BISD, an adjunct mathematics community college professor, and an educator at a private secondary school where I was nominated by students for "2014 Best of Western Washington - Best Teacher."

Bainbridge has been my home since 1999. However, I spent time here every summer visiting relatives as far back as I can remember. (My island family history dates back to the 1920s, but I'm not quite that old.) When I have a spare moment, I love spending time with my kiddo, a 2020 BHS grad, usually in a dark theater, off and on stage!

I am grateful for the opportunity to explore my love of teaching and learning with staff and students I respect and admire, as well as participate in the growth and development of BHS as a whole.
