Coaching Philosophy

My approach to coaching is rooted in my experience as a player and leader of global teams in the corporate world. As a coach, I focus in on a few areas:

  • One size does not fit all. Every athlete is different. Their motivations are different, and as coaches, we must understand that.

  • Player development is built on a foundation focused on fundamentals. When faced with adversity, players with a strong foundation can recover quickly.

  • Team over self - The name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back. Athletes must understand the difference between team success and personal stats.

  • Leading by example - what players hear from their coach must match the actions they see from their coach.

Personal

Thomas lives on the island with his wife Jessica and their two children, Kayla and Paxton, who are also enthusiastic about softball and baseball. This family connection to the sport further fuels Coach Henshaw's commitment to nurturing young athletes in our community. In his free time, he enjoys camping trips, golfing, and pretty much anything outside with family and friends.

Quotes, etc.

I am beyond excited to be joining back with the Spartan Baseball family. I want to thank Luke Ande and the broader interview panel for their trust and belief in me to lead our Spartan program. The coming season will be an exciting time to be on the diamond for these athletes. I am a proud graduate of BHS and look forward to helping lead our Spartans in the seasons ahead.

I am excited to bring my experience, passion, and community-minded approach to our high school baseball program. I look forward to working with players, parents, and fellow coaches to build a successful and positive baseball culture at our school.

It is an exciting time to build upon the Spartan baseball program as we enter a new conference this year. Our program will work with a relentless pursuit toward winning championships. Go Spartans!
