As we close out September and welcome the start of October, I want to thank our BHS families for such a great start to the school year. It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Open House this week. Your involvement, encouragement, and support of your students make a tremendous difference, and we appreciate the partnership you bring to our school community.
A quick reminder that Monday, September 28, is our first district-wide professional development day of the year. There will be no school for students that day as our staff comes together for learning, collaboration, and planning. Thank you again for helping us get the 2026-27 school year off to such a positive start. As the weather changes and we settle into fall, we are excited about the momentum building at BHS and all that October will bring.

We’ve officially kicked off this year’s Spartan Spirit fundraiser. Our goal is $25,000, and we’ve already raised just over $2,000—thank you!
Funds support teacher and staff grants, student events, emergency preparedness, and more. We’re also having a class competition, with a small prize for the winning class. When donating, be sure to include your student’s graduating class year (or years if you have multiple students).
BHS merch is also available, with proceeds supporting the fundraiser.

Bainbridge Schools Foundation (BSF) works alongside BISD and our school PTOs to help ensure every student has access to an excellent public education. While PTOs build community and enrich the experience at individual schools, BSF raises funds for critical district wide staff and programs serving students across all seven BISD schools, including academic intervention, educator support and professional development, and library resources. Fall Referral Window: September 21–October 9, 2026
BISD’s Highly Capable (HC) referrals are welcome during our fall window for students new to our district (since February 19, 2026) in grades 1–11. (Referrals for Kindergarten and currently enrolled BISD students will open during our spring window.)
If you’d like your student considered for HC services, please visit our BISD Highly Capable page for the timeline, program details, and the referral form.
Previously in HC/Gifted elsewhere?
Please complete the BISD referral and email documentation (e.g., assessment scores, grades, placement letters) to Drew Crandall at dcrandall@bisd303.org.
Deadline: Submit the referral (and any supporting documents, if applicable) by end of day Friday, October 9, 2026.

What does the Youth Leadership Team do? In past years, the Youth Leadership Team has participated in advocacy with elected officials in Olympia in support of policy affecting youth, including funding for college, immigrant rights, and mental health. The Team has also organized and hosted events for young people and for all ages to promote mental health, connection, reflection, and community-building, including board games, therapy dogs, student bands performing live music, arts and crafts, yard games, and sports. At the beginning of every year, the current team reviews past activities and discusses the priorities and interests of the current group to determine what activities they would like to do that year.

Self-Harm Education with Dr. Janis Whitlock (October 15th, 3:20 pm) – A special teen workshop with a nationally recognized expert focused on understanding self-harm, healthy coping strategies, and how to support yourself or a friend (ages 15-18). ( Sign up Link)
SAT/ACT Study Pod – A supportive space for students to study and prepare for the SAT and ACT alongside other students. (email Anne@bainbridgeyouthservices.org to sign up)

ASB memberships, 2026-27 BHS yearbook and fall participation fees may be purchased now through the online payment site.
ASB MEMBERSHIP is required to participate in sports and clubs and will trigger discounts and waivers for various school events throughout the year. (Includes BHS ASB Membership Pass to sports events ( link to instructions).
YEARBOOK– Buying a yearbook is optional, however, we order based on the number of students who buy one at the start of the school year. Once the order is placed, the number of additional yearbooks available is limited and are sold on a first come, first served basis at the end of the school year. The deadline to pre-order is October 30th.
