BHS Community Newsletter ~ August 27, 2026

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! On behalf of the entire Bainbridge High School team, we are thrilled to welcome our students and families back for another great year. Whether you are joining the Spartan community for the first time or have been part of BHS for generations, we are fired up to see our students back in the halls, reconnect with our families, and get this year underway. There is so much to look forward to as we continue building a school where every student has opportunities to belong, engage, thrive, and make the most of their high school experience.

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate 100 years since Bainbridge High School’s first graduating class! For a century, generations of Spartans have walked these halls, built traditions, created memories, and helped shape the community we know today. As we honor that incredible history, we are equally excited about what lies ahead and the next chapter our students will write together. One hundred years of Spartan pride – and plenty more to come. There’s a lot to celebrate! We can’t wait to see you. Roll Sparty!

Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year! Schedules are now available through your student’s Skyward account. Counselors have worked hard to place students in the classes they requested. As a reminder, students may have received an alternate elective if their first choice wasn’t available. 

Counselors cannot entertain preferential requests. Examples: wanting lunch with a friend, a different teacher, math at the end of the day, a different elective, etc. Please remind your student that their schedule is final and that a request to change it will not be allowed. Counselors are required to keep class sections balanced and not overloaded throughout the school year. 

One item to note: Student schedules will have a ‘CCS’ class listed as their 7th period. To avoid confusion, this is their homeroom class that takes place weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:20-11:05 am. You can find the updated bell schedule here.

We look forward to welcoming students back to BHS on Tuesday, September 1! Spartan Startup for 9th Graders and new-to-BISD students will start at 8:45 AM. All returning students will start at 10:45 AM.

Interested in learning more about the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) at BHS? Join us for our First Day Meet & Greet on September 1 at 8:45 AM in the BHS Library to enjoy some coffee and treats while meeting other families and learning more about getting involved. New Principal Dan Novick will stop by to say hello as well.

A heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the PTSO Classroom Supplies Drive. All wish list items were purchased in under 24 hours! Your support is greatly appreciated by the BHS Staff.

There are a limited number of parking permits to go around. Therefore, permits will be granted by random drawing, with priority given to senior students. This email with the Parking Permit Application Form was sent on Thursday, August 6 to families of seniors and juniors. Sophomores may not apply for parking passes at this time. To be considered for a parking permit, qualified students must complete the application form by Friday, September 4.

High school moves fast—and every day your student shows up matters! Regular attendance helps students stay on track with credits, keep up with assignments, build relationships, and stay connected to their school community.

Missing just two days a month can add up to 10% of the school year. It’s much easier to keep up than catch up!

Families still play a powerful role in high school attendance. Encourage consistent sleep and morning routines, make getting to school on time the expectation, and check in when you notice attendance starting to slip.

And remember—sometimes attendance struggles are a sign that something else is going on. If your student is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or struggling to get to school, reach out early. We’re here to help.

Help your student SHOW UP & SHOW OUT this year—because every day at school is another step toward graduation and what comes next!

Online payments can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week for a small transaction fee. If your child’s food service balance is low, it only takes a few minutes to add money using your VISA or Mastercard credit or debit card.

Reminder: Cash or checks are always accepted at your child’s school as an alternative to online payments and have no convenience fee.

The PSAT will be held at BHS on Tuesday, October 20. Registration materials will be sent next week.

Start the new school year with a little extra puppy love! On Wednesday, September 2 at 3:15 PM, therapy dogs from Assistance Dogs Northwest will be visiting Bainbridge Youth Services. Students are welcome to stop by after school, meet the dogs, take a moment to de-stress, and enjoy some furry company as the school year gets underway.
