¡Hola! Soy Señora Hess. When I'm not in the classroom teaching Spanish or ASL at Bainbridge High School, you'll often find me pursuing my passions: practicing yoga, playing golf, paddling, traveling, hiking, cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with loved ones.
My first immersive cultural experience was attending Gallaudet University for my master’s program, where I loved learning alongside Deaf students and teachers. That spark for cultural immersion eventually led me to live in South America for 13 years. Teaching in international schools deepened my appreciation for cultural diversity and showed me the power language has to connect people across borders. As an educator, my goal is to inspire students not only to master Spanish, but also to gain deeper insights into themselves by understanding others.
In my classes, I create an immersive environment by speaking Spanish most of the time. It is a journey of exploration where making mistakes, showing patience, building confidence, and staying open-minded are key to fostering genuine cultural appreciation.
