MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Photo of Mt Rainier at sunriseGreetings, BHS Community ~

This semester so far has been filled with incredible achievements, hard work, and inspiring moments that truly define the spirit of our school. From academic accomplishments to artistic endeavors, athletic triumphs, and the countless instances of kindness and support shown among us, I am continually reminded of the remarkable diversity of talent and energy in our halls. It was wonderful to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of so many of our students this week at our fall recognition assembly.

Thank you ALL for being an integral part of our school family. I look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready to tackle the exciting opportunities that await us in the new year.

Wishing you all a restful winter break,

Kristina Rodgers, BHS Principal

CTE CAREER CENTER

Career & Technical Education graphicApprenticeships

Did you know that in WA state the average apprentice makes $94,900 per year upon completion of an apprenticeship program and 93% are employed 1 year after completion? Apprentices also earn a progressively larger salary and incur zero education debt while in an apprenticeship. Please visit the BHS CTE Department Webpage under Postsecondary Education Pathways for more information.

Apprenticeship offers a unique educational model with a blend of experiential learning and structured education, providing a 1:1 ratio of hands-on field experience with an industry expert and dedicated classroom learning. Lasting between 2 to 4+ years, these programs immerse apprentices in their chosen field, allowing them to directly apply their skills in real-industry settings under the mentorship of seasoned professionals. Apprenticeships are available in over 250 diverse occupations, ranging from cosmetology, healthcare, networking, and IT to construction careers like sheet metal, carpentry, and electrical.

All registered Apprenticeships in WA State can be found on the L&I Webpage. Please come to the Career Center or contact Ms. Swanson at lswanson@bisd303.org for more information.

PTSO NOTES

Large stack of Kleenex boxesAs always, we thank you for all of your support!
The response to the tissue drive was overwhelming. In 2024 we look forward to fulfilling opportunity grants, supporting the Winter Formal, providing luncheons for the teachers…and so much more! We could not do it without all of your support, and we are so appreciative.

BISD Superintendent Peter Bang-Knudsen will be our guest at our January PTSO meeting on Tuesday, January 2nd at 7 PM. Please join us in the BHS Library Reading Room.

Save the date for Thursday, January 4th at 7 PM. We will have a zoom webinar featuring Paula Bishop. Paula will present her ever popular Cash for College presentation. She will have information about the new FAFSA. Watch for the link after break!
