After earning a B.A. in Studio Arts, a B.A. in English Literature, and a Master of Education at Pacific Lutheran University, I began my teaching career at BHS during the 2018-2019 school year. Teaching at BHS has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Every day, I get to spend time with passionate, insightful, and hilarious young people who care deeply about the world, filling me with so much hope for our future.
However, I haven’t always been in the art room! My first five years at BHS were spent in the English department where I loved discussing literature and writing with students in English 9 and Honors American Studies. Despite my love for teaching English, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to move to the art department during the 2023-2024 school year. Art, especially drawing and painting, was my first passion—I even listed “art teacher” as my dream job in my high school yearbook!
Whether or not you consider yourself an artist yet, the arts teach us to persevere, problem-solve, communicate, collaborate, and much more. Plus, it's incredibly fun! As renowned artist Keith Haring put it, “Art is for everybody,” and I can't wait to see you in the art room.
