Message from the Principal

Hello Families,
It is a busy week on campus as we celebrate our students' work across several departments. The excitement begins tonight with our Spring Arts Festival, which showcases the various works of art created by students this year. To complement the “gallery”, our culinary students will be providing the catering for the evening. We invite you to join us to view the displays and enjoy the refreshments prepared by our student chefs.

The focus on the arts continues this Friday evening with the opening of our spring musical, Little Shop of Horrors. The cast and crew have worked hard to prepare this production, and we look forward to seeing their performance on stage.

In the classroom, the atmosphere is shifting as State and AP tests finally wrap up. We recognize the effort students put into this examination period and are glad to see them move past these tests.

Spring sports are entering the final stretch of their season. It has been a productive season and multiple teams are now headed into post-season play. We look forward to supporting our athletes as they compete in these final games. Thank you for your continued support of our programs and students.

Principal Dan Novick has been actively engaged in getting to know the staff and students and is beginning the planning process for the new school year.

And finally, please join Principal Novick and me at the PTSO meeting, Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the BHS Library. We will be sharing the latest Healthy Youth Survey results. Learn more about trends in student well-being, mental health, safety, and other factors that impact student success.

Have a wonderful weekend.

BHS Spring Arts Festival ~ TONIGHT

The Spring Arts Festival is an annual event to celebrate the accomplishments of student artists in the BHS Ceramics, 2D, and Photography programs. Students, staff, families, and community members are all welcome to attend the reception this evening Thursday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the BHS library. In addition to viewing the phenomenal art on display, attendees will get to hear a performance from BHS Jazz 9 and enjoy refreshments prepared by the Advanced Culinary Arts students.

Spring Musical Opens Friday

Are you in the mood for a musical with talented actors, a live band, and some amazing student-created creatures? Then come see Little Shop of Horrors!

Fridays May 15 & 22nd @ 7 p.m.
Saturdays May 16 & 23 @ 3 p.m. + 7 p.m.

Next Week: 11th-Grade Science Assessment

Students in 11th grade will be taking the required Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science during their regularly scheduled science class on Monday 5/18 or Tuesday 5/19.  Students who are not scheduled into a BHS science class should check in at the front desk between today and Monday 5/18 at 8:45 for testing session information. On the day of students’ assigned tests, they should arrive on time, well-rested, and with a fully charged BHS Chromebook. Students will not have access to any other electronics (including the Chromebook, once they have finished testing) during the testing session, so they should bring a book in case they finish early.

A training test is available for students to practice with the test interface. Just click on the link, “continue as Guest,” and make sure to choose WCAS Training tests.

Spartronics Open House ~ May 20

On Wednesday, May 20th from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Spartronics will be hosting their annual “all robotics” open house. Come meet ARTEMIS, just returned from the Einstein fields at world championships, along with presentations and demonstrations from robotics clubs from across Bainbridge island. We’ll be in the 100 building, or just look for students waving Spartronics flags.

2026 AP Testing May 4-8, 11-15

2026 AP Testing Update

Bainbridge High School administered close to 1300 AP exams this testing season, with 509 students testing. AP Exam scores will be released to student College Board accounts in early July. Students who are taking an approved late AP exam next week will receive those exam scores mid-July. Check out College Board’s website for more information regarding how and when to access AP exam scores this summer. Students have until June 20th to send one AP score report for free to a college, university, or scholarship organization of their choice.

Fees/Fines/Financial Assistance

FEES AND FOOD BALANCES: The online payment site is available to pay class, sports or club related fees as well as food service payments. This is a good time to check to make sure that there are no outstanding amounts owed at the end of the school year.
Fees may also be paid in person at the BHS accounting office.

FINES: You can use the online payment site to review overdue items that are listed as fines. Returned items will be removed when they’re returned in good condition. Lost or damaged items can be paid for through the payment site or in person at the BHS accounting office.

FEE WAIVER AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION - We would like ALL BISD high school students to have access to the many activities and academic opportunities that we offer at BHS. If your family is in need of financial assistance, information on how to access support can be found here on the BHS website.

Parents/Guardians of Juniors and Seniors

The West Sound College Mixer is a unique event put on by Olympic College, Kitsap Strong and North Kitsap School District. The event aims to support our juniors and seniors (and their families) as they prepare for attending a four year college. For juniors, learn early on about the financial aid application process. For seniors, meet other local students that plan to attend the same college you do. Most of the WA colleges will be represented at the event and there will be a location reserved for out of state and/or students going to colleges not represented at the event. There will be a parent panel as well. See flyer in English and Spanish for more information.
