Message from the Principal

Hello BHS Community,

Spring is coming and with it comes the familiar, high-energy buzz of the academic home stretch. Between the changing weather and the final milestones of the year, our hallways are busier than ever as students and staff alike prepare for a successful conclusion to the year.

To ensure our students have a quiet and focused environment for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) exams, we will be running late start schedules May 5th through May 8th. We encourage all families to check this adjusted bell schedule for more detailed information regarding these modified days and specific start times. In addition to the state assessments, our Advanced Placement students are gearing up for the AP testing window which runs from May 4th through May 15th.

Finally, while we welcome warmer weather and longer days, the change in seasons often brings a surge of allergies and sniffles. Our classroom tissue supplies are running quite low, and we would be incredibly grateful if you are able to pick up a few extra boxes during your next shopping trip. Donations can be dropped off at the main office at your convenience. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our learning environment comfortable and focused!

Best,
Ruth Medsker

PTSO "Pi Day" Luncheon Tomorrow

The BHS PTSO will host our annual Pi Day Luncheon for teachers and staff on Friday, March 13 (since “3.14” is on Saturday). A huge thank you to everyone who has already signed up!

Please drop lunch items at the BHS Main Office. And we still have a few spots open for food, drinks, and volunteers—please check our Pi Day SignUpGenius for details. All contributions are greatly appreciated.

Cap & Gown Distribution Day ~ March 13

Seniors, Jostens will distribute Cap & Gown orders during both lunches, 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM. If you are unable to attend, you may have a friend or family member pick up your order for you. We will hold your items in the BHS Main Office for pick up next week. If you haven't placed your order yet, you may go to the Jostens website to purchase. Late orders will be delivered to the school in the Spring.

Information about purchasing yard signs, registering for Grad Night Out and a list of important upcoming dates can be found here.

Spring Into Attendance

This is a reminder that consistent attendance helps students stay on track for credits, graduation, and post–high school plans. Every day in class supports learning, builds habits that matter for the future, and strengthens connections with teachers and peers. Just like growth doesn’t happen overnight, progress in high school comes from showing up, starting the day on time, staying engaged, and building momentum. Together, we can help students grow, learn, and bloom this spring—one day at a time. 🌱

State Testing ~ May 5-8

The Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) for Math and ELA is scheduled for Tuesday May 5th through Friday May 8th. These assessments are required for 10th grade students.

Any students in 11th grade who require passage of the SBA Math and/or ELA to meet the state graduation pathway requirement will also be offered the assessment at that time. If this affects your 11th grade student, you will receive direct communication about this requirement next week.

The Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) is scheduled on Monday, May 18th and Tuesday, May 19th. This test is required for 11th grade students.

BHS Lost & Found

Our Lost & Found area in the 200 building lobby is bursting at the seams. If you have been missing water bottles, lunch boxes, clothing, etc., be sure to stop and take a look.

Any items remaining at the end of school day on Friday, March 13 will be donated.
