Cooperative Worksite Learning Program
The BISD Career and Technical Education Department (CTE) is pleased to offer worksite learning opportunities for high school students. The Worksite Learning Program connects high school students with professionals and provides students with an opportunity to explore potential careers. It also gives students an opportunity to make connections between their academic experiences and their future, provides an avenue to gain confidence, enjoy increased responsibilities and to practice applying workplace skills all while receiving school credit for their work hours.
How does worksite learning work?
Students who are already employed can sign up for the program by completing the Worksite Learning Program application. The application is available electronically by emailing Director of Career and Technical Education Lesha Engels. Once the completed and signed application has been submitted to Ms. Engels, she will set up a meeting with the student to confirm eligibility, review the remaining paperwork, and discuss program requirements. Throughout the school year, Ms. Engels will work with employers, students, and parents to complete the paperwork, track student participation and goals, and manage the documents needed to offer school credit.
