Counselors will be meeting with their 9th grade students during CCS time on October 8th. Counselors will talk about the transition to high school, the role of a school counselor at BHS, confidentiality, resources available to them and a review of how credits, classes and graduation requirements work. We look forward to this time with our new Spartans!

We’re looking forward to seeing you at our next PTSO meeting on Tuesday, October 1st at 7pm in the BHS library. Kristina Rodgers will provide information on the updated Cell Phone Policy, Smart Pass, and CCS (Community, Culture, and Self) class.

Highly Capable (HC) Referral for new students to our District
|
Bainbridge Island School District offers services to students who have been identified as highly capable. Highly capable students are those who perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels. Services are provided for students in grades K - 12.
If your student is new to our district this fall, and you are interested in having them evaluated for our Highly Capable program, please visit our Highly Capable Webpage for more information. The referral window is open from September 25th to October 6th.
The referral process for all other returning students (Grades 1-11) and Kindergarten will occur in the Spring of this school year.
New to District HC Referral Process Timeline:
September 25-October 6: Referral window open
October 21-November 8: CogAT Testing
December: Results communicated with families before winter break.
Please contact your school's highly capable teacher with any questions you may have.

Try-A-Trade Field Trip Oct 23, 2024
|
This is a partial day field trip, 8:45-1:30, to the Kitsap County Fairgrounds on October 23, 2024. Check out a variety of trades and career opportunities available to students upon high school graduation! Students can try out a range of hands-on activities and interact with a wide range of professionals, from maritime, aerospace, construction, fisheries, law enforcement, military, food service, healthcare and more!

ASVAB Exam November 4, 2024
|
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery registration. Register for this exam if you are interested in serving in the Military or Coast Guard after high school, if you are interested in Career Exploration based on a skills and interest assessment, or if you are completing the ASVAB High School Graduation Pathway. The exam is open to students grade 10-12. Scores from Grades 11-12 are eligible for military entrance. The exam may be taken more than once, a student's most recent test score is utilized for military entrance.
The exam is in two parts, the main testing day on November 4th starting at 8:45. The exam usually takes between 1.5hrs - 3hrs to complete. Then on November 18th from 8:45-10:00 students receive their scores and complete a career exploration activity and their career options and results are explained.
*ASVAB Scores are only released to the military if you elect to do so. The school does not release any score information to recruiters. Career exploration provides non-military career options as well as military career Options.
